Check engine light on code is P0488 how to fix what to do will it cost alot?

my car is and 2004 chevy aveo with 49,000 miles and the problem is "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Throttle Position Control Range/Performance will it cost alot to fix please help!|||My best guess is that its detecting an ineeficiency from optimum being what the cars emission controll system should be capable of as a result of the TPS.

It would be indicative of an innaccurate reading from your TPS.

a TPS is your throttle possition sensor, which your computer uses to meter the af ratio based on how far open you have thr throttle.

If the TPS was reading that the throttle was 50% open when it in fact ws physically only 40% open, your car would inject more fuel than needed, and now your OBD system is detecting that unburnt fuel as an innefficiency, and it wants you to fix it.

Thast my best guess, im not home right now and dont have access to look it up. But thats what i think is happening.

TPS sensors are not very expensive at all, though it may be somewhat involved to replace, you may have to remove the intake manifold.
