How can i fix my truck to pass emissions?

my Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow was insufficient. my bank 1 and bank 2 systems are too lean. can i fix it myself or do i need to take it to a mechanic (96 F150- 5.8 lt)|||When the fuel-air mixture is too lean you may have a leak in your intake system, or a leak in the vacuum braking unit or you may have a clogged fuel filter, or clogged injectors, or you could have a used up O2 sensor. And there may be other things.

Knowing what needs fixing is the starting point. The problem in doing this yourself would be in knowing whether you have fixed the problem, because there may be more than one.
