|||Yes you can "clear" the fault before you have the part changed.|||The lamp can be turned off, however, it will come back on shortly after again until the problem is resolved and the computer is reset. You can use the scan tool too erase the code, but as soon as the computer completes a drive cycle (typically 4 - 7 starts where the car gets to normal operating temp) the light will come back on.|||yes you should turn it off if there is a real problem with the egr valve, the light will come back on. sometimes they stick a little or a little piece of carbon will break of and hold it open too long if after clearing the codes and the problem returns then remove the egr aand try cleaning it before replacing it,some of the new egr valves are are very expensive. good luck|||you can reset the warning indicator, but as soon as the fault re-occurs, it will come back on. it might have only occurred once, and the light's come on and stayed on, so you could save yourself some money by resetting it before going out spending.|||black tape
